SKILLS AND CAREER BUILDING

Over the past 7 years I have garnered much work experience in various professional settings. However, majority of those years have been spent working in the banking sector where I have gained a wealth of knowledge in commercial banking and technology.

WORK EXPERIENCE

ST. KITTS-NEVIS-ANGUILLA NATIONAL BANK | BANK TELLER

• Process transactions including servicing client accounts, balancing cash drawer, processing loan payments
• Establish credibility and build rapport with customers
• Assist customers with account queries, requests and financial advice referrals
• Archive customer documents to assure order and efficiency

I have been employed as a Bank teller at the St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank, from July 4, 2016. In my role, I have been able to surpass the expectations of customers, colleagues, and superiors on a  daily basis. My managers have come to value my attention to detail, willingness to assist others, strong analytical and organizational skills, and my ability to maintain discretion as I anticipate my customers’ needs.

I am proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite and have used my strong problem-solving skills to spearhead the improvement of many daily processes that were formerly less efficient. I have been able to use tools such as Microsoft Excel to reduce the time it takes for the coin teller to balance at the end of the day. All of the aforementioned examples were done out of my own initiative but with the support of my managers.

As a bank teller, I have spent the last 5 years working among a large team. Success each day requires cooperation among each member of the department. This has greatly improved my ability to work well in teams. Also, with increased seasonal demands I have also mastered the art of working effectively in high pressure situations even motivating those around me to also excel. Success in my current role also required mastering my time management skills and remaining detail-oriented.

INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE

ST. KITTS-NEVIS-ANGUILLA NATIONAL BANK | IT INTERN

• Lend IT support in areas such as cybersecurity, programming, analytics, and data center management
• Support the IT team in maintaining hardware, software, and other systems
• Assist with troubleshooting issues and provide technical support
• Organize and maintain IT resources

During this six week internship I was attached to the MIS unit as a Systems Analyst intern. I gained professional experience in areas such as cyber security, web development, systems administration, network administration, and ATM maintenance. I became acquainted with the various policies and procedures that various international and regional regulators institute for IT departments in the financial sector. Consequently, I was exposed to the various projects that an IT team must undertake to become compliant with the policies.

This internship also improved my time management skills. When given multiple tasks to complete I made sure to maintain quality of output while still meeting deadlines. This opportunity also helped me to hone my writing skills. I prepared draft reports on risks for various items that were being considered for implementation. Additionally, I assisted the executive manger in research and presentation of business cases for recommended applications that needed to be brought on stream. The internship was very diverse and served as an orientation for the overall operations of the MIS unit.

ST. CHRISTOPHER & SOCIAL SECURITY BOARD | SUMMER INTERN

• Assist with the archiving of client data
• Assist with the electronic transition of client data from paper documents
• File customer claims and review customer benefits

This was my first internship out of high school. It built my professional skills as I learned to navigate the office environment. The department was currently undertaking a project that involved the electronic transition of all client data. Hence, I was a part of the team that helped in scanning and entering formerly physical files as electronic records. This required focus and efficiency since it was a large amount of files to convert.

This opportunity honed my oral communcation skills and improved my ability to work well in teams. Additionally, I was able to improve my time management and organization skills by being punctual and present at all times. This position also required paying attention to detail in order to maintain order and accuracy in file retrieval, data entry, and maintaining physical file archives.
